Before adding a Shakespeare selector, the working tool was locked as V2 so the new work could be tested against a stable, recoverable baseline.
In brief
V2 was recorded at 47 files and 245,330 bytes with exact source-and-mirror parity, a manifest hash and the tag v2.0-baseline-2026-08-01. No public release was claimed by the lock.
Why lock first
The next feature would add a much larger corpus and selection interface. That is precisely when a versioned baseline matters: it establishes what must not regress, makes a rollback possible and stops later review from confusing V2 behaviour with V3 changes.
The locked tool retained its clean-visit Sonnet 18 state, paste workflow, IPA rendering, rhyme groups and share links. Its acceptance record is explained alongside the guide; the evidence boundary remains available in the methodology.
Consequence
The V3 selector could be developed in a new directory and assessed against known results rather than replacing a live source in place. That copy-forward discipline continues in the Build log and is the reason this site’s later versions remain separately identifiable.
