A reconstruction is an argument, not a recording.
Original Pronunciation Folio is an educational and rehearsal aid. It does not reproduce the voice of a particular historical speaker.
Interpretive limits
The engine models a broad late Tudor and early Jacobean pronunciation window from published scholarship and period evidence. Early modern English varied by region, class, community, individual and context. Specialists can reasonably disagree about dates, vowel qualities, stress and how narrowly a stage reconstruction should be transcribed.
Output should be checked against the cited notes and used alongside expert coaching when a production requires a consistent performance accent. The service provides no legal, medical, financial or other professional advice.
Text and availability
Public-domain corpus texts may retain source-edition conventions and transcription artefacts. Custom input can produce unfamiliar or uncertain words beyond the engine’s exception set. The site is provided without a guarantee of uninterrupted availability or fitness for a particular production, assessment or publication.
